Aqaba Vacation Guide
Aqaba is more like a western city than a Middle Eastern City. It is a busy, clean, and safe appearing city. There is much new construction going on in Aqaba and the city seems very properous.
It's main claim to fame is a beach resort and the beaches rival beaches from most countries. There is a big scuba diving and snorkeling trade in Aqaba as the coral reefs in the Red Sea are full of life due to rich warm waters.
Every type of restaurant can be found in Aqaba from excellent Middle Eastern food to fast food American style restaurants such as McDonalds, Burger King, Quiznos, and others. Even though it is a Muslim country, there are still restaurants and clubs that serve alcohol.

The thought of long stretches of sandy beach, with ample opportunities to dive and snorkel sounded oh so appealing. Thus, i was a littl…

At 9 in the morning we were picked up with a small van to go to a beach some 10 kilometres south of Aqaba. The warm water and minimal tides make the Gulf of Aqaba ideal for diving. Virtual all of the diving sites are accessible from the beach (or a pier) so you don't need a boat. That latter made t…
