Way back when I was a First Year (at Bucknell the term “Freshman” is considered derogatory, but we use it anyway), I went on a preorientation program into the AT. Twas a gorgeous trip. I had only had my camera for two months and I remember people saying, “Are you really going to take that thing packing into the wilderness?” Well, of course... where else am I going to get really good photos? (granted, I'm still learning)
