Apotekeren Alesund Reviews
Home made food in a warm atmosphere Aug 24, 2010
Apotekeren is a small café inside the Jugentstil Centre. It´s nothing fancy, but with only 8 tables and an armchair, it gives you a homey feeling. This feeling is specially due to the friendly staff and their home made cakes and sandwiches. It is more the feeling of visiting some ones home rather than being in a café. The atmosphere is also nice and warm.
It was obviously good chemistry between the two girls behind the counter. They were really enjoying their job. Everything they did was with a smile and they were very quick in cleaning the tables. Their little kitchen was spotless as well. It´s the same staff who is running the Jugendstil Centre. Seems like they are a bunch of friends.
Apotekeren serves a nice range of teas and coffee drinks, cakes, brownies, muffins and cookies as well as open sandwiches and salads. Their chocolate cake (Sacher Torte) is to die for. You order and pay at the counter then they bring the food to your table
After visiting the Jugendstil Centre, Apotekeren is a great place to enjoy a coffee and a cake while you digest all the new impressions from the visit.
On Saturdays they have different types of lectures. The café can be rented for private events like private lectures or showing a film.
I will definitely come back to this little café. Have to have another piece of that chocolate cake!
Since the café is inside the Jugendstil Centre opening hours are the same as the museum:
Summer: 10 am – 5 pm
Winter: 11 am – 4 pm
