Apollonian Hotel ~ Centra location Mar 17, 2010
This hotel was a really lucky find for us. We pulled into town after dark and were shocked to see there was a huge party in the middle of the square. Kids were dressed in costumes and there was an Easter Carnival in the piazza in the town. There was music and people were singing and there were different events for the children to go to.

Traffic was literally bumper to bumper and non stop. David found a place in front of a bakery (illegal I’m sure) and we got out to find a motel. David offered to run to motels and see if he could find one… Tara, Robert and I did a little window shopping and looked at the bakery goods while he was gone.

David came back in about 45 minutes. Miraculously, he had found a motel nearby. It was 45 Euros with 5 euros each for breakfast. Parking was almost impossible near the motel. There were cones in front of the motel. After we circled the area a few times in the bumper to bumper traffic, the desk man moved the cones so David could park. Tara and Robert were really anxious to go clubbing and wanted to get to the room to change. There was an elevator and stairs to our third floor rooms. We were in room 325 which had a view of the piazza. Unfortunately due to the cold weather and intermittent rain the carnival was closing down.

We were really happy with the room. Not only was the bed clean and comfortable, it was a queen so it fit David (almost). An added and important bonus was the heater worked!

We took pictures of Robert and Tara before they left….. They were good sports posing for us. After Tara and Robert left we walked down to the lobby and chatted with the very nice night attendant. He gave us a glass of wine and we spent some time talking to him about his life and what he enjoyed. He knew some people in New York and hoped to visit America one day. After the wine we then walked out to the town and went to a couple of bars. We at at the normal late hour of Greece and had some dinner at a great little café. We returned to the motel around 2 AM after watching a few games at the cafe.

The next morning we went to the motel basement for breakfast…. It was a horrible breakfast. It consisted of packages of crackers, packaged sweet rolls and instant coffee. The only other people were a man and his little boy. I hoped he hadn’t paid as much as we did for breakfast. When we left the motel we found nearby were two bakeries with coffee. In retrospect we should have skipped the motel breakfast. It would have been far better food and better coffee at a much cheaper price had we realized. We decided we probably could have averted it by actually asking what they generally served for breakfast. Some places have cheese, meat, breads and it’s completely worth 5 euros. …. But not this place… lol….

The breakfast was the only thing we didn’t like about the motel. It was clean, friendly and had good beds. The location was excellent. If we return to Lamia we will go back to this motel. It is a smaller “home” type motel but we always find we are happier in them than large Holiday Inn types.

The phone number is: 22310 22668 and the fax is: 22310 23032. We were not able to find a web site and it was not listed on the receipt. We rated them low on amenities because of the breakfast.
