Still the weather was up and down - but by all accounts this was Melbourne for you! Today was our overnight trip down Great Ocean Road. We headed off to grab our hire car and started the trip - the sun was shining at this point - and we were stuck in a traffic jam due to road works trying to get out of Melbourne! These are memories from my journey across South Aussie that took me through the heaart of wine country, along the Great Ocean Road, into Port Lincoln, Adelaide, Melborne and on to Kangaroo Island.

Welcome to our blog. The plan is to travel round the world in eight months. We'll be starting from New York and seeing some more of North America before continuing to Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand before finishing in Cambodia and coming home for Christmas. Often labeled as one of the world’s most beautiful scenic drives, the Great Ocean Road stretches quite a ways westward from Torquay (a small town about 100 km southwest of Melbourne).  The road, originally opened in segments between 1922 and 1932, hugs the southern Pacific coast of Australia and provides some absolutely amazing vistas along the way.   For most of the morning, a steady rain fell.  That made the drive slightly more harrowing but did not dampen …
