Appenheul: The Monkey Zoo Sep 06, 2010
The Apenheul is the monkey Zoo of Holland. They only have monkey's in this zoo. You would think that, that would be boring but that's so not true! We enjoyed every seccond and stayed till the parc closed!

Before you step in to the parc you get a bag to put in yout bab... The monkey's who are walking around are verry clever and before you know it there in your bag and stealing your wallet/candy/botlle of wat...

When you step into the parc there are litlle squirrel monkey's who are jumping around. And if you're lucky they jump on your lap or climb into your jacket.

There is a huge variaty of monkey's big and small ones. Some walk around and some are kept on Islands.

At the entrence you get a feeding scedule so you can visit the animals while there being fed. The zookeeper tell something about the specific specie and you can also ask questions.

If you like monkeys and great apes this place is a must-go. Apenheul has been designed almost fenceless. Some of the nearly thirty species live on islands, others like the cute squirrel monkeys mingle freely amongst the visitors. Especially the feeding presentations are a great experience!

Although it is not allowed to run after the monkeys or touch them you may get in contact with some of them easily. Squirrel monkeys for example love to check your pockets. Therefore be prepared for monkeys jumping onto your shoulder and grabbing into your jacket.

Apes: Apenheul accommodates gorillas, Bonobos, Orang-Utans and Gibbons.

Entrance fee: 16 Euro (2007)

"Monkeyproof" bags are available at the entrance for free.

The Apenheul in Apeldoorn is a zoo where you will find all kinds of different monkeys. You can actually walk in between the monkeys without them being behind fences. It's very nice to watch the monkeys play and climb the trees. Monkeys are such funny animals. I personally loved the Apenheul and especially children will like it a lot too.

Something nice to see at the Apenheul is when the monkeys are being fed. When the weather allows it, visitors can go and see how the caretakers feed the monkeys. There is a schedule on wich the different times and locations for the feeding can be seen. You can get this schedule at the entrance of the park.

If you like you can go on a guided tour and there are also tours in english but you will have to make reservations for that 3 weeks in advance. The entrance fee for adults is 16 euro's children from 3 to 9 and seniors pay 12 euro's. Children who are younger dont have to pay an entrance fee.
