Apartment Hotel Shinjuku Tokyo Reviews
Affordable hotel in TOKYO, Shinjuku area Apr 23, 2015
This was my 2nd hotel in Tokyo, in the Shinjuku area.
What can I say about this charming hotel?
Dont expect the usual hotel...
When you enter the lobby of the hotel (caution for late arrivals! check in is til 7pm, otherwise you need to contact the staff about your exact time you wanna check in), you dont feel like inside of a hotel. In the entrance area you will find different objects...handmade, vintage objects, which are shown for sale. It's a mix of design, vintage, and dyi ojects... it's very charming.
There's no elevator!
As soon as you walk up the stairs to your room, you will notice the simplicity of the hote-design...simple but well-thought... stairs dont have tiles, nor colour... just concrete. you will notice some numbers, drawn lines, patterns.... each floor has its individual design.. some vintage shelfs, lamps, ..etc..
It has a unique charm...
Each hotel room is also individually designed.. mostly filled up with vintage furniture..
My room was equipped with a tiny kitchen. I guess cooking in the small room, wouldn't be the best idea, but it's great for making some tea and coffee, or to heat up some food from the convenient-store.
The location of the hotel was pretty ok for me...it's in walking distance (5-7 minutes) from the shinjuku area where nightlife happens, with lots of small restaurants, and bars...
Golden-Gai is 10 minutes walking away.
Shinjuku station is 5-6 minutes walking away. The hotel is located in a very small alley, VERY quiet, and safe neighbourhood. So there's really nothing to complain about the location.
Walking 10-15 minutes...and you will make it to one of the most beautiful places in Tokyo...the Shinjuku-Park (well.. beautiful on sunny days of course).
A 7-eleven is just outside the hotel... 2 minutes walking. Great for withdrawing money from their ATM, which accept foreign credit-cards.
Ohhh before I forget...the guy at the lobby was always VERRRRY nice. He speaks english very well, and always helped me out when I needed help.
If i ever will turn back to Tokyo, and plan on staying in the shinjuku area, I will definitely book a room at this hotel.
Price was alright!
I paid around 140 euro for 3 nights... that's 50-55$ a night.
