Worth visiting Aug 30, 2011
I came here last week with my friend. Even though it was raining it was fairly busy. We saw lots of animals although there were no Lions as they were building a new enclosure for them, not sure when that will be completed.

It's quite nice for a day out for people of all ages.

One of the top sights in Antwerp Apr 05, 2010
This is a great place to go in Antwerp, especially if you have kids. I haven't visited that many zoos abroad, but none I would rate higher than the one in Antwerp, except for Plankendael near Mechelen, also in Belgium.

My favourite parts have always been the inside parts, like the night-time animals, reptiles and aquarium. The elephants are the most popular animals, especially since the birth of Kai-Mook, Belgium's first ever baby elephant. But that also means that on crowded days (basically all weekends and the whole summer), it can be hard to get a glimpse of them.

A fun day out Apr 04, 2009
Antwerp Zoo is one of the oldest in the world, and was obviously designed at a time when a zoo was about parks, statues and rotundas for the visitors, with a few crabby cages for the animals. Fortunately, the modernisation of the zoo has made the most of what they had. You still have the nice parks and rotundas (including one with moveable poison-arrow frogs that squirt water for the kids to play with) and there are interesting statues everywhere (Lydia really enjoyed the field full of rabbit statues - some of which appeared to be up to mischief), but importantly they have dramatically improved the animal housing. Without space to expand they've obviously had to downsize dramatically the number of species that they keep, merging a dozen old enclosures for each new one. The plus side is that even though there aren't that many different species, each has a well designed enclosure to live in. We really enjoyed the elephants and the penguin exhibit.

Zoo Antwerp Jan 07, 2009
The Zoo in Antwerp is one of the most beautiful Zoos I’ve ever seen.

It's one of the oldest and most famous Zoos in the world, located next to the train station of Antwerp.

They say more than 5.000 animals live in the Zoo and more than 950 species.

It has beautiful buildings and a wonderful garden, which are protected as monuments.

This Zoo offers you an oasis of calm in the busy city of Antwerp.

There’s a lot to see and a lot to do, you can count on half a day to spend here.

This Zoo has a lot of attractions like the planetarium, the winter garden, birdhouse, reptile building, nocturama (nocturnal animals), aquarium and the recently created vriesland ('freeze land'): a biotope with sea otters, King penguins and macaroni penguins

This old Zoo of about 163 years old is really worth a visit!

Antwerp Zoo Dec 19, 2008
My boyfriend and I went to the zoo of Antwerp (Belgium) and we had a lovely day! We both love taking photos and it's a great place to take beautiful photos. We really enjoyed the zoo, because of the many animals. It is situated next to central station, so u can get there really easily. It certainly is worth a visit!
