Austin's most famous indoor live music venue Feb 29, 2008
Antone's is Austin's premier blues club. Clifford Antone, the joint's namesake, opened the original club in 1975. Past artists include B.B.King, John Lee Hooker, Fats Domino, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Pinetop Perkins, Jimmy Reed, Delbert McClinton, Muddy Waters, and Albert Collins. This is the bar where Stevie Ray Vaughn got started, opening up for his older brother Jimmy's band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds.
In over 30 years of providing the best of live music in Austin, Antone's has broadened its musical genres to include rock, reggae, jazz, funk, bluegrass, country, and many other types of bands. Why is Austin famous? It's the Live Music Capital of the World. What bar was integral in putting Austin on the map in the world of live music? Antone's. YOU CAN'T COME TO AUSTIN AND NOT SEE A SHOW AT ANTONE'S! Want tips for seeing shows at Antone's? Get there early to get a good spot near the stage. If it's a big show, buy a ticket in advance. Get your shoes shined by the guy near the bathroom. TIP YOUR BARTENDER! It's the right thing to do, and odd's are your bartender is my friend. :) |
