First stop today was Pan de Azúcar national park. The park had a nice beach and a cacterium, which we stopped to see. There are also some pretty crazy rock formations in the park. After the park we ate lunch at a truck stop in the middle of nowhere. The food was good, and best of all, cheap! After lunch we went to a fairly large cemetery where all the locals who had been poisoned by mining run-off were buried. Next we stopped at the Mano del Desierto and took photos. Ok well the locals we met in San pedro laughed when we said we were on our way to Antofagasta and the guidebooks said most travellers avoid it but we went ahead anyway and we're glad we did. We actually like it! It is the 2nd biggest city in Chile and has given us time to just chill and we spent time shopping, walked down to the port and even managed to watch pirates of the carribean (in English not a dubbed spanish version!!) Breezing by Antofagasta . . . Our way of keeping track of the distances traveled during our journey . . .

We started our 3 weeks trip with a 27 hour bus trip from Santiago to Arica. From there, we took a private tour to the National Park Lauca & N.P de la Vicuna's, down to Iquique. After visiting the port of Antofagasta, we headed for San Pedro de Atacama and visited the famous Valle de la Luna and Tatio Geysers. In our last week we headed back via La Serena to Santiago.

Antofagasta- del 24 al 25 feb. De camí a St Pedro d'Atacama he parat a la ciutat d'Antofagasta, també a la costa, però la veritat és que no valia massa la pena, no sé no m'ha agradat massa per no dir gens, però bueno he continuat amb la ruta cap el desert.
