Decidedly happy to be done with my third year of medical school, I decided it was time to get back on the international travel scene. I only had 10 days, and my trip was rushed, but I managed to hit a few of the highlights that this amazing country has to offer. Enjoy!!

Having never peared into a live Volcano before, we decided to undertake an adventure up Volcon Pacaya, an active Volcano just south of Antigua.  Initally we were a bit put off of reports that the climb was "fairly difficult" and lets face it we're not exactely "fairly fit".  To say that it was a walk in the park would be a dead out lie, but through grit and determination (and lots of rest breaks and chest pains) we made it.  We were allowed to walk onto the lava flo…

Idag har vi vaeret ude og bestige en vulkan!! Vi blev hentet kl 6 imorges og skulle korer rundt i byen for at hente de andre turister der skulle med. Vi var en lille gruppe kun 14 ialt. (Nogle af de selskaber vi snakkede med var grupperne paa 30-40 personer!!) Vi var heldigvis den forste gruppe der kom frem paanaer nogle lokale. De forste 2 km op var klart de haardeste. Well I’m nearing the end of my stay here and it has been as magical as I hoped it would be. I wish I had another two or three months here. I’d be fluent in Spanish and I’d have time to check all the sites in and throughout Guatemala. I love meeting the people here and the hostel I am staying at- its top notch for sure. We made it into Antigua after an "interesting" mini bus ride from Copan. Driving through Guatemala City was pretty intense, it was belting with rain and the buses there put Zupco to shame. I found a hostel to stay in and some people, luckily Saffa´s, to watch the rugby with. Obviously the game was fantastic and the party after was pretty good too, from what I can remember. I only had about a week to spend in Guatemala and I had to stay in Xela for most of it so I didn't get to see much. There's lots more I want to see when I get the chance to go back
