This has been one of my greatest trips so far, in the sense of discovering such variety of beauty and many attractions. It was a very comfortable trip, not adventurous since everything was well planned in advance. In a short week i could see most of the interesting places in Guatemala and as Belize is close by we decided just to follow the road and end up in Belize City.

What a crazy and unforgettable experience we had here! Well, the actual visit of Antigua went ok. As usual, got around to seeing every corner of the town. It’s your typical colonial town, very pretty, with lovely architecture all over the place, churches, and lots of ruins here …

Our study program closed with a stay in Guatemala. We soaked up the beauty of a land simply saturated in color, and I swear that the physical labor required by our service project on an organic coffee farm was the most healing activity I've ever shared.

Decidedly happy to be done with my third year of medical school, I decided it was time to get back on the international travel scene. I only had 10 days, and my trip was rushed, but I managed to hit a few of the highlights that this amazing country has to offer. Enjoy!!

As promised, Rusty and I were up at the crack of dawn (5.30am!) to get ready for our day trip to Volcan Pacaya. The volcano is still active, and is around 30km south of Antigua, so we had to take a minibus to get there. We sat outside our youth hostel to wait and everytime one of the little tourist…

A beautiful small town about 1 1/2 hour southwest of the capital. This place has a nice market, historic colonial buildings and a old church in ruins. Closely located to a great lake so well worth the time to make a stopover and chill for a few days. it gets busy here on the weekends from the …

We took it easy the next day in Antigua, exploring the city's ruins and sidestreets.
Antigua used to be the capital of Guatemala before it was hit by a series of earthquakes. The city is dotted with old buildings, both ruined and well-preserved. The square in the center of town is surrrounded by …
