Unfortunately I knew it had to be coming and this morning we got served black beans for breakfast. well I cant say too much.I was in Antigua, Guatemala for 5 weeks to study spanish and travelling around the country on the weekends.The city is pretty small and I was a bit worried if I wouldn't get bored in 5 weeks, but in Antigua there's always something to do.visiting the market, hanging out at Parque Central, going out at night to La Casbah or Monoloco, watching a movie for free at Cafe 2000 or La Sin Ventura, doing volunteer work, enjoying the view from Cerro De La Cruz or taking Salsa C…

Volcano Day!Couldnt get up early enough for the first tour(6am). Figured Id take my time and do some touring around the city anyways. There was a 2:30 tour for the volcano. I spent the day walking around the cobblestone streets taking pictures and gawking at church ruins. The City of Antigua Had a great dinner there at our hostel the first night.  I recommend the veggie baguette and a Gallo beer at the Black Cat www.blackcatantigua.com.  Then we took a stroll down the cobblestone streets.  It appears that our hostel is one of the few loud hot spots in town.  It was the party place until 10:30pm when everyone went to sleep.  We had hoped to meet up with TravBuddy DanChapman there, but missed each other.  Another good recommendat…

A very beautiful travel to Guatemala, little bit of Honduras, Belize and little bit of Southern Mexico. I saw great places, enjoyed very funny activities and meeting some very nice people (You are one of them Juan Carlos!)

I went to Antigua, Guatemala this past May as a nurse volunteer. I helped perform over 80 surgeries in the week I was there. Its was so amazing and beautiful! Cant't wait till next time!

Guatemala has fabulous people. They are friendly and nice. I went to Antigua and Flores.

Of course on my last day I must have this experience! I went to the bathroom out in the garden and like every morning I had my shower! Not that I did not have any visitors in there before, but this one was very special and big one! Heather fell in love with Ricardo here in Chico, California. Ricardo was born and raised in Antigua, which was surprisingly a place she had already visited during her traveling nurse days. Antigua is just one of those tipical tourist towns packed with Spanish Languages schools and foreigners trying to learn Spanish... in other words, its just one big colonial town packed with parties. We arrived late Friday night, just as everything was begining to pick up. We were surrounded by foreigners, it almost rivaled Panama City.
