Antigua Market Oct 31, 2012
Antigua market is the real deal market without many tourist or gringos going around. Most of tourist go to one of many “artisan” markets where you can get huge variety of leather goods, beautiful hand worked textiles and incredible range of small items that every visitor has to take home. Antigua market surrounds the dusty field which doubles for chicken bus parking and futbal field during the weekend games. Most of the time passages in the market are passable only for one person at the time and also tall people have to be careful with overhead low roofs. One of the larger hangars at the market hosts small restaurants, but they are a bit on the dirty side. Lots of fresh fruit, veggies, produce, and all kind of cheap clothing can be found all over. It is not a place where you can find regular touristy staff.
