Antelope Park is a must for anyone planning on going to Zimbabwe. It is park that gives you amazing experiences as well as a peaceful place to stay.
The accomodation varies from river lodges to camping in your own tent. Camping allows you to be close to the river and admire the beautiful scenery antelope park has to offer. There is an open tatched roof dining area, where food is available all day and outdoor seating to admire the views of the lake. Drinks, hot and cold are available free of charge all day. A swimming pool to cool off in and a marketplace to buy local merchandise from. However the main reason for stopping at Antelope Park is the activities you can do, three of their main activities are walking with lions, the night encounter and swimming with elephants. As well as this you can play with lion cubs, watch elephants doing their training, which involves them , throwing and kicking footballs, balancing on two feet etc or take a horse ride to see other widlife, such as buffalo, giraffes, antelope etc. The activities are very reasonably priced, the lion walk costing around $45, which gives you an hours walk with 3 lions aswell as being able to touch them and have your picture taken, you are also given a big stick to point at them, which is always fun! To play with the lion cubs for upto an hour it cost around $10, sometimes you will find them very friendly and playful but on other occassions they just want to be left well alone. The elephant training was a bargain price of $5, you get to watch them train first and then you can feed them, and sit on them, if you want to. Overall this is one place that you will not want to miss when visiting Zimbabwe. Part of the Overland Africa travel blog
