Annalakshmi Restaurant Perth Reviews
Annalakshmi, pay-as-you-feel Indian restaurant by the Swan Jan 15, 2011
Annalakshmi is an Indian restaurant by Perth's Swan River. Although the food is absolutely amazing, and its location is second to none, what makes this place so wonderful is the message they strive to portray - "
"The concept behind this unique organisation is to allow the volunteers to serve the Perth city on the banks of the Swan, with love through the culinary and visual arts. The food served in Annalakshmi is not prepared by hired chefs with secret French recipes hidden up their sleeves. Instead it is prepared with the care and love by homemakers - mothers, grandparents, sisters and brothers. This filial connection is what makes the concept of Annalakshmi, an unique one.
You cannot put a price on the food prepared by a mother or a wife, and this is why at Annalakshmi you - eat as you like and pay as you feel."
I cannot stress enough on the location and atmosphere . The restaurant occupies two stories by the Perth Pier on the Swan River. The first holds cooking classes, and the second is the restaurant. It overlooks the Swan and South Perth, and is very modern and clean. You are invited to help yourself at the buffet, but are encouraged to not take more than you can eat to avoid excess waist.
The food is vegetarian, but even those who usually consume hearty meals of meat wouldn't be left unsatisfied here. What taste is lost with the lack of meat is more than compensated with the abundance of herbs and spices.
I didn't list the cost as free, because I think you would be taking advantage of a fantastic concept if you chose not to pay anything. I'm not actually sure if paying nothing is an option, but theoretically you could hand them a dollar. I usually give between $10 and $15, sometimes more if there is a performance.
