Annabelle's Bed and Breakfast: Great Stay in Budapest Jan 18, 2017
In researching bed and breakfasts for a stay in Budapest I came across Annabelle's,Bed and Breakfast a new place that had only been opened a few months. The location looked good so I proceeded to their web site.

What a great decision that turned out to be! Located just steps away from the magnificent Hungarian Parliament Building the b and b has a good location. To enter the b and b you need to either come up the stair way to the 3rd floor or if you tak the elevator you need to press on the first floor button. The lift may look old and rickety but it provides reliable, elevator transport all hours of the day.

Once inside the owners have done a masterful job of restoring the floor to accommodate five beautiful rooms. Painted in soft colors with nice hall furnishings Annabelle's takes on a most pleasant and bright welcoming impression

Our room was # 5 a quite large room with a double bed and single bed. Beautifully restored hardwood floors and a high ceiling. Very nice paintings on the wall gave the room an elegant touch. The room faced an interior courtyard. Double paned windows made it extra quiet. Unfortunately the windows could not be opened.

The bathroom was also very tastefully furnished. The shower with a rainforest attachment was huge, literally large enough to lay down in, and the best shower I have ever had in Europe. Plenty of hot water made it a joy in the evening after a long day of walking or a pleasure first thing in the morning.

The beds were very comfortable and made sleeping easy. Lots of soft pillows. Everything was sparkling clean and in very good taste. A small refrigerator was also a nice touch. The room also was equipped with a large strip outlet for extra electronic devices. A very nice touch that nearly all bed and breakfasts seem not to provide enough of in a day when we need outlets for everything!

The owner Thomas was very nice and helpful. As soon as we checked in he spent at least a half hour orienting us to Budapest and giving us advice on things to see. He also provided a very helpful guide and map to the City. It was great to have his perspective on the city.

The breakfast was provided by Thomas's lovely wife Carmen. A decent selection of breads, yogurt, meats and cheeses. Really good coffee! Carmen also cooked us on both days we were there a delicious omlette. She is very sweet and a source of great information about the history of Budapest and Hungary.

Thomas leaves a free land line phone in the breakfast area for his guests to use in making local calls. Another nice touch that no other b and b does.

In summary, the place is light, airy, tastefully decorated and Thomas and his wife make this a great place to enjoy beautiful Budapest. The location is great. For those not wishing to eat out every night there is a very handy new SPAR market less than two blocks away. This b and b is definitely worth the ratings it is receiving! Highly recommended! If you have questions before you book, please contact me at Virtual Tourist. Rates seem to be lower if you book on the place's web site.
