Cinnamon Bun Heaven Jul 25, 2010
I went to visit my old roommate in Chicago recently. We went out to Ann Sather for brunch. This Swedish diner was fab, but not for those on a health kick. Any main that features eggs comes with 2 sides. One of those sides, and by far the most popular, is a duo of cinnamon buns. These are not for the faint of heart...or clogged of arteries. These are big, honking, hot, fresh cinnamon buns with icing drizzled all over the top. I managed to restrain myself and eat just one so that I'd actually eat my omelet when it got to the table. It's safe to say that a main and two sides feeds two, but alas, 'tis America. They also serve traditional dishes like Swedish pancakes, meatballs, and lingonberry jam. Yum. There are three other locations in Chicago, but the one we went to is in the historically Swedish area of town. Expect to wait for a little bit if you go on Saturday during the rush period. It's worth the wait and the line moves at a good clip.
