Ancient Roma Travel Reviews

Jun 08, 2007
Well I was in Rome this weekend, and despite the high temperature and sunburn was quite a nice experience. Got there around 10 went to my hostel, which was closed for me till 4pm, so I walked around with all my stuff (luckily only a small weekend bag) for the day. Started out by going to the colosseum, which was fantastic. I paid the 10 extra euro (21 total) to skip the line and I got a tour around the colosseum, and the Palatine hill(decent not great). Then went to the Forum, walked around there. Since the protest against Bush was in town, police presence was intense, and the subway was closed for a lot of spots which was annoying. walked from the "wedding cake" up to piazza Republica, which is apperently were the protest was massing which was interesting. They were very friendly, let me take pictures and cross. Apperently there was rioting later but I saw none of that. Pub crawl at night was ok. 20 euro all you can drink and eat for an hour (plus a "free" t-shirt). the next bars got expensive so if you do this, drink as much as humanly possible in that first hour. As always enjoy

showbiz101 says: Firstly, the vatican is amazing. So make sure you go. Secondly, the line for the museum will quite possibly be the longest queue of people you have ever seen in your entire life (it certainly was for me). So get there early, early, early!! Seriously! It is well worth going to the top of St. Pe...
