Spots where salmon would head up the rivers, Glaciers, and trees who had been “killed” by salt rising through its roots.
Anchorage has a nice Coastal walk, where one can explore the solar system.
Apparently the …

Getting to sleep that night was incredibly difficult. I don’t know if the midnight sun or the fighter jets at the air force base seemingly right outside our window that disturbed me more!
The morning came too soon and we were to be at the train station first thing to board the Alask…

Before we had to head to the airport on our last day, Mark and I returned to Chugach State Park to hike to the top of Flattop Mountain. Parts of this hike are thigh-burning climbs up long stairs or rocky slants. Orange spray paint is the only way to figure out how to traverse some of th…

Taking a cruise and land tour is definately the way to go for the first trip to Alaska. Its a great experience. I got to see several cities and do lots of great activities. Including a helicopter ride to a glacier that we walked on. A lumberjack show and walk thru a rainforest. Whale watching and cool shows on the ship. Panning for gold and train rides. A tour thru Denali National Park.

We arrived in Anchorage Sat night without any significant hassles. We picked up our RV at around 12 noon from a company called Great Alaskan Holidays, www.greatalaskanholidays.com. They rent very nice RVs that are no more than a couple years old. They are a large facility so plan ahead as it will t…

Recently I had another business trip...this time to Anchorage, AK. I have to admit being a warm climate girl, I was a little anxious about going to Alaska especially the cold weather. But it was really nice and beautiful. The best part was I still had time to "site see" after my m…

I knew I'd be heading north for visits when my other half moved to Alaska for work. During my first visit over the Christmas holidays, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that not all of the the 49th state is a frozen tundra. Anyone who's been there will agree that there's just something about this place that gets under your skin and makes you want to return time and time again.
