Anchor Oyster bar is crustacean heaven Apr 16, 2012
Located in the Castro, a very popular restaurant. This is the best place to have seafood. Always fresh, nice variety. The place is tine. There are just 4-5 tables and seats around the bar. You can expect to wait because they don't take reservations. Parking is an issue.

The chowder is rich, creamy with a good amount of clam. The cioppino is loaded with seafood (clam, shrimps, mussels, crab, cod, oysters) in a delicious herb tomato broth . it came with delicious toasted garlic bread with cheese. They don't serve desserts.

The staff is very friendly and accommodative. The restaurant has been institution for 34 years.

Another fabulous place for Oysters in SF is Hog Island Oysters. Very yummy, fresh cold oysters and this place is known to be the best in the bay. Located down by the bay. Little pricey but nice scenery out on to the pier and Bay Bridge.
