Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge Novo Airao Reviews
Perfect! Oct 16, 2013
This unique jungle lodge is located in the heart if the Amazon Forest , the Anavilhanas National Park and it is about 2.5 hours drive from the airport. There is a 10 minutes' ride on a dirt road before you reach the lodge
There is a reception/bar/library/game room area by the restaurant. This is also serve as the meeting area for guides and guest before heading for the activity of the day. The staff are super friendly and helpful and almost all of then speak English.
The restaurant is on a higher floor where you have a good view of the jungle. The package is all inclusive except alcoholic drinks. The food were so good and their fresh fruit juice were super!
We were assigned to cottage 7, represented by a wooden animal - Tucan, which is also the identifier for our dinner table. This is a cute idea!
The room was big and clean. What I really live was the hammock on our balcony overlooking to the woods! There was a mosquito net covers the balcony so we were protected from the Mosquito!
There are free WiFi but only at the reception area, the signal was not really strong. We'll we understand that because we were in the heart of the jungle. We were lucky to even have some signal!
The bathroom was clean with a huge walk in shower are. The water pressure was strong too
Just as we were readied to check out, a staff knocked on our door wanting to help us with the bags! Perfect timing with helpful staff!!
If anyone wants to visit Amazon, this is the lodge!

Exceptional place within the Amazonas that respects its environment Dec 04, 2011
This place is truely exceptional. From the www it appears to be an exclusive lodge. And it is exclusive but in a different way. It is small, only 20+ bungalows/rooms that are tucked within the Amazonas that has done everything to keep things as they are.
The visit is for packages and I took the 3 nights, 4 days. It included jungle walking, village visit, canoeing, night boat, sunrise trip, pink dolphins, archipeleg trip, and fisihing. Everything well organized and with respect to the area. So for example no animal catching,no shows with caymans, no shooting, no snake killing. Just looking, experiencing, with exaplanations from the guides Everaldo and Leandro.
The service is unique in that it is modest. They never chase you to buy drinks etc. They just serve and ensure you have anything you need without formality, just with a Brazilian smile. All on time. All equipped. Pick up is from airport or hotel in Manaus.
As for the price, well safaris cost a lot too, and this is a sort of safari, but if you look at the prices and considering it includes everything: all the tours, all the dinners - breakfast, lunch, dinner, I think it's great. Food is varied and introduces a lot of local dishes from local plants and vegetables, along side international dishes. Great swimming people for those who like, over looking the Rio Negro.
Only thing to point is to bring snacks with you as the bar is lacking and there is no town or village around. In addition, in accordance with their Eco-friendly policy, no laundry service, so come with what you need.
I am impressed such environmental-friendly, exclusive, yet modest places exist. More on Brazil and my recommendations in my blog: http://setfreelamericatrip2011.blogspot.com/
