Ananda Restaurant Port Blair Reviews
Ananda Restaurant Jul 24, 2011
The word 'Ananda' means happiness and this restaurant truly brought happiness to our taste buds every time we ate there. In December 2010 I visited Andaman & Nicobar Island with my family. In our seven-days stay we visited this restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner many times. I guess you already figured out how much I liked this place!
This restaurant is located in the busy streets of Aberdeen Bazar in Port Blair. Every dish we ate there was very tasty and the price is also reasonable. After a long morning-walk a plate of 'Puri, Dosa or Idli' with their excellent tea or coffee feels heavenly. The cost is around 30-40 Rupees (US $1 = Rs 44) plus Rs 10-15 for tea/coffee.
For lunch they have veg 'Thali' for Rs 50. It has rice, some fried vegetables, a veg curry and daal. You can eat as much as you want. You can order some fish or other non veg item with the Thali. I would recommend spicy 'Nicobari fish curry'. There was a crab-curry dish for Rs 250 which is a must eat too. In summary, I didn't eat anything here that tastes bad or made my stomach upset. If you are in a large group order many dishes and share, this way you can try several things and find your own delight.
The decoration of the restaurant is very simple but the taste of the food makes up for that. They have two sitting areas AC (air conditioned) and non-AC. I always used non-AC section because the weather was very pleasant in December. Another reason was that I could chat with the owner and the waiters here and get info about the place.
