On Saturday, we needed pancakes, and we went to the Pancake corner on Leidseplein. Oh, my goodness. Well, I'll do you a review, but if we just say that I don't think any of us even thought about lunch? Highly recommended. The service was even OK.
N, T and C all wanted to go to the Anne Frank House. I really didn't - I never really recovered from the school trip to Auswitch, and an hour in a line didn't appeal either. So I wandered off with a promise that t...

My 5th European country to visit was the Netherlands, Amsterdam the Great city, the arrival to The airport with almost 4 hours delay,(thanks Continental), made me rush into the city fast, no hotel reservation just a little info about getting to Amsterdam, and getting to the train station. Amsterdam was exceptional from the begining walking around, looking at the country, stroll around the city, and getting a hotel nearby.
Visiting the museums, drinking beer, walking around the streets, being...

We were suppose to meet at Centraal 4-5:30PM. I was running late and barely made it 5:30. But as I was almost there, I called Kat, our sweet organizer, to ask if they were still there. Noup! They had already left before 5 because everybody had come early. They were walking down to Spui, heading to Leidseplein. But first they stopped on the way to Replay Café by flower market on Singel. Finally I got there too after calling Kat couple times more and then she had to pick me up from the end of ...

To be correct, I guess I should start with...Day 0 - Los Angeles to Amsterdam. We left LAX at 6:40am on September 10. After a 3 1/2 hour layover in Philadelphia (which turned into 5 hours) we arrived in Amsterdam ~ 8:30am, only 1/2 hour late (where did 1 hour go?) on September 11. And that takes us to Day 1...Day 1 - AmsterdamSo we successfully navigated through Schipol Airport, caught a train to Centraal Station, and boarded a tram for Leidseplein. Turns out that we ...

At last, the moment I’ve been waiting eight months for is there: I’m off to Australia for six weeks! Well, my parents and sisters are tagging along so I won’t be on my very own. After all, they want to see my brother too! We’ll sorta pick him up in Australia ending his travels through Australia New Zealand and South East Asia. It must be sad times for him…
But the best for me! Six weeks of Aussie-culture, Aussie-landscapes, Aussie-food and Aussie-life: Six weeks of Aussimen...

I flew to Amsterdam for the Travbuddy Queensnight/Queensday minimeetup, which was awesome - mainly due to the fact that the Travbuddies were all so cool and up for a laugh. I then joined up with some friends from Spain which was a little more civil, but still brilliant.
I love this city, and I have to go back soon!

Travelling back home somehow seems more telling of the distance than travelling away from home. Maybe it has to do with not seeing any new things anymore, making time go slower (although some psychologists actually argue that time goes faster when you do not have new experiences). In any case, it took me some 20 hours to get from Santiago to home, flying 13 hours to Madrid and another 2 hours to Amsterdam. I arrived home Tuesday late afternoon.
All in all, it was a trip with many experiences...

Wake up call was at 6:45a.m. Breakfast at 7:15a.m., of cold cereal, orange juice, coffee and a sweet roll.
We were bused to Rijksmuseum for a tour. The museum was in the process of remodeling and so much was closed, but we did get to see many interesting things. Then across the street to do a walk trough tour of a diamond exchange. Cutting, setting, and sales. But with the numbers of people it wasn't the best of tours.... seemed like they just wanted to s...

Amsterdam has been a great city to visit, and has given me incentive to explore the rest of the Netherlands. The Dutch are friendly, speak English well, and most seem to have a good sense of humor. Also, the women are attractive for the most part, which doesn't hurt.
So much for the Dutch having bad food--I've enjoyed the food here, from fries with mayonnaise to raw herring to waffles. I had Indonesian kebab at De Schutter, a large bar on Voetboogstraat, which was some of the tastier bar fo...

Ok several of you know and I think a few of you have guessed and everyone wants to hear the story so this blog is a special, kind of personal, edition in my Europe travels. I finished work for the month on August 5th, so packed myself a bag, hopped on a train and headed to Amsterdam to meet up with Maarten before we went off on our Hungarian adventure. We weren't leaving until the 11th so had some time just to hang out together and with friends and generally live the good life.On the 7th, Maa...

Rob and I met up for breakfast and then checked out and stored our bags at the hotel. We wanted to spend a bit more time in Amsterdam before heading back to Brussels.
We walked over to the Waterlooplein and saw a 3D movie called 'The Holland Experience.' It was informative, but a little corny. Although I knew that much of the country was below sea level, I did not know that Schipol Airport was totally below sea level! I also learned the the Netherlands is the 3rd larg...

The Irish boys awoke me at 10am, and I was feeling groggy as all hell. I got some toast breakfast sweating the fact that I was supposed to be at a family friend´s place in Oegstgeest (30 min outside Amsterdam) that day. After packing my shit, I found out on my first time to the internet in 2 days that they weren´t home from a golfing vacation to Marbella, Spain till tomorrow. Shit. That means I´m stuck in Amsterdam another day. Coupled with the fact that it wa...
