Michael Stipe & David Belisle Book signing in Amsterdam

After the book signing the day before, it was time to see R.E.M. play live. They were performing an outdoor show at the Cultuurpark Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam and I went with a friend. It was the first show of their european tour. And it was my fifth concert of one of my favorite bands. It…

Got to Amsterdam

Suprise suprise, we went to some more pubs. My last night. I wanted to go to Leidseplein because I liked that the best. We saw those dancing guys again, I don't know for how many times. There is an Australian outback restaurant where I wanted to go to eat. I ate grilled ribs, my favorites and I was…

In the evening the entire group (things had been pretty individual in Kathmandu) went back to the airport, where we checked in. Unfortunately the airline would not label our bags all the way to Amsterdam, so when we got to Heathrow half an hour too late, we had to pick up our bags, go through custo…

Last day of our Contiki tour, and it turned out to be one of the saddest and worst days ever. Seeing as I was staying one extra night in Amsterdam, I didn’t actually have to wake up early. But, Kerrianne was leaving Amsterdam to back to London on the coach, so I woke up with her in order to say g…

Steve, (stibba) had a birthday on Dec 7th and I looked at his profile photo and thought, I could give him a small gift by changing his shot. I downloaded the shot and did a little lighting and color changes.  I hope he is happy with the outcome.  Happy Birthday!!   If this is a ph…

The problem with this kind of trip is that there isn't nearly enough time in any location to ever see all the things that are worth seeing, ditto for doing.  Of course, if it were, the trip'd be 10 months and probably just cover london and paris.  Anyway, once again Art fell by the waysid…

Day trip to the Netherlands
posted by:

I took a bus day trip to Amsterdam. The tour guide was not the friendliest of people, actually he was down right rude. Before getting to Amsterdam we took a pit stop in a little town to a cheesefactory and a clog making factory. While there I spent all the Euro I had on me for gifts, but figured I …

Travelling back home somehow seems more telling of the distance than travelling away from home. Maybe it has to do with not seeing any new things anymore, making time go slower (although some psychologists actually argue that time goes faster when you do not have new experiences). In any case, it t…

This was my second trip to Amsterdam since arriving in Germany last fall. The first time was a short weekend trip with a couple of friends. We drove to save time and money. This time I took the train from Schweinfurt and joined the TB meet-up for the Queen's Birthday. Good times. I love Amsterdam. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
