After getting our stuff out of the room Mandy and I were ready to go back home.
Downstairs we ran into Ante and Jeff wich was great so we could say goodbye properly then. They still had another day in Amsterdam left so that was nice! On the way back home people were actually staring at me since I kinda looked like a homeless person (and felt like one also) After travelling for 2,5 hours I was finally back in Uden. I told my dad to pick me up from the busstation. When he saw me he just laughe...

So it's 5:30 in the afternoon right now and I just came home 2 hours ago from a long train ride from Amsterdam. I wasn't really going to blog about the meet-up now since I have tons more of blogs lined up to do and it's going to take me until summer to finish them all up but I just couldn't resist the temptation of reliving all the crazy memories I had yesterday. I should actually be sleeping right now (I bet Lauro is) but I'm just glad that I had two mad hours of sleep or I'm proba...

Honestly I really had no clue of what to expect from these meetups. I had decided in the last minute to fly to Amsterdam and meet some of my travbuddies, the people that I have been chatting with for awhile. Being this was my first meetup I was excited to finally the people behind the photos, the blogs and the conversations. My trip got off to a rocky start when my flight got delayed (This was a running theme of this meetup)
I finally found the Goodies bar that a bunch o...

Yesterday (26-01-2008) we had a great Meetup in Amsterdam! But first I had to get there. I left home at 9.00 am and after a 1,5 hour trip by train, talking with some old granny's all the way, I reached Amsterdam! I met Ket (Pitt-Cruise), Nienke and Wendy to see some things in A-dam first. We went to the Stayokey hostel to drop off Wendy's bag. In the Stayokey hostel we met Ante, Devika, Mandy and Stefan (they already have had a great and crazy night in Amste...

I was born in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. When I was a few weeks old I was adopted by a family from the Netherlands. Since then I've lived here in this small country in Europe wich is a great place to live! When you're planning a trip to Europe make sure you don't skip my country! Especially our capital Amsterdam should not be missed!
Basic Info The Netherlands got it's name because of the location below sea-level! The Netherlands is a very flat and small country. The Dutch are k...

Hereby my version of the Amsterdam Meet up.
After weeks of chatting on the Amsterdam meet up forum, the day finally arrived. To be honest I was sticking nervous about meeting the rest and didn't know what to expect. After a last checkup at the forum, seeing if everybody was on their way, I toke my car and drove up to Amsterdam. To be honest, it's a place I don't prefer to come, because I'm from Rotterdam and it just don't click between those two city's. Their is quit some rivalry between ou...

AMSTERDAM TRAVBUDDY MEETUP
Saturday, January 26, was one of the most dynamic and diverse days in my life.
Early that morning, I conducted a graveside funeral service just outside of Amsterdam for one of my friends from England who lived his final five years in the Netherlands. At the end of the ceremony, I had the honor of praying with five individuals who made a decision to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
From there, I caught a train to ...

I think it would be the best to start from my last memory of the meetup in Amsterdam. I find it that Hanif Kureishi says it best in Intimacy when he opens with It is the saddest night, for I am leaving and not coming back. That thought went through my mind while I was going back to the Steyokey hostel in Amsterdam, leaving behind my new found friends at the Leidsplein, and strolling slowely behind other group of friends, trying to pass unnoticed, trying not to harm my happiness in any way. Th...

This was my first experience with this national holiday for Holland and I can honestly say that I will travel back again sometime in the future. Despite the fact that the city came vibrantly alive during these two days, this particular experience was made that much more pleasurable because of the people I had the opportunity to celebrate with.

I had breakfast again and left at 10 o’clock for the Vondelpark. It was less then a 5 minute walk. I took a lot of pictures there while walking around the park and headed back to the station. I remembered that Johan told me that there is also a flower market, which was closed last night, so I saw that first. They had really a lot of flowers there, and many, many bulbs.
Then my next stop was the Spui, and slowly going to the Dam again and the station. There was a lot of noise at the station...
