Amsterdam Arena Reviews
An Amazing tour Oct 10, 2014
I wouldn't say this tour is just for the football fans. Everyone can enjoy a tour around this beautiful stadium. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Amsterdam.
The Amsterdam Arena, which opened in 1996, is home to Ajax football club and the Netherlands national team. As well as that they host concerts and music festivals. The Arena has played host to famous artists such as Bon Jovi, Eminem, Robbie Williams, Metallica and U2 to name a few.
The tour cost €14.50 or you can get the stadium tour and canal cruise combo for €28. As i went in October i just went with standard tour ticket. They run several tours throughout the week so there isn't a need to prebook. I just turned up about 15minutes beforehand and bought a ticket at the door.
As the tour started our guide gathered us all together to explain that the tour would be in both Dutch and English, although by the end he realised for our group he could just speak English so the Dutch was dropped. We were then brought to a room to watch a brief video to show the history of the Amsterdam Arena.
During the tour we were able to walk in areas most fans don't get to see. We saw the trophies and pictures hanging so proudly. We were taken to see the Ajax "Club Van 100" which is where they proudly place a photo of all players who have played 100 games for Ajax. We also got to see where the press would sit during games before being able to go to the seats to enjoy the view.
After that we were taken to the press room and given the opportunity to sit and take some pictures. It's fun to pretend to be a coach or player :P There was also a chance to take an official Amsterdam Arena picture which later gets uploaded to their Facebook page so you can get a copy for free.
I must say i was really impressed with this tour. The only downside was that we didn't get to go inside the locker room as there was a match that evening so this was closed for our tour. So if you are thinking of going make sure you check out the schedule beforehand!

Tour around the stadium Jul 12, 2009
Everyone should pay a visit to a stadium once. My tour was (of course) in the Ajax stadium called the Amsterdam Arena.
Unfortunately they had just removed the grass for preparation of a concert of U2 but it was great to be able to sit in various spots in the stadium and visiting various rooms like the press room and the command center. It gives you a good idea of what goes on in a place like this.
A really nice treat for when you are in Amsterdam and you have a few hours to spend.
