Amritsar is located in the north-west of India, and it's one of the biggest cities in the Punjab region.
One of the main attractions in Amritsar is the Golden Temple (Harimandir Sahib), wich is the most important temple for the Sikhs in India. There's also loads of other Sik shrines in the region. Most people speak Punjabi as their native tounge, some also speak Hindi, and most young people speak English. In winter (november-march) temperatures can be below 0 C, and in summer (april-june) as high as 50 C. There's also a monsoon season from july-september. Amritsar is an up-and-coming city, they have an international airport, and it's also easy to go there by train or car from Delhi.

After my meditation experience, I was a little concerned about jumping back into the hustle-bustle of India's city-life. But, Amritsar is heavenly.

The other attraction is Amritsar is the daily ceremonial closing of the India-Pakistan border, held after the actual closing of the immigration checkpoints. The border is nearly equidistant between Amritsar and Lahore (on the Pakistan side).
After surviving the stampede (literally), we were seated amongst the crowds on grandstands to see soldiers on both side strut their stuff and try outdo each other. Both sides shake hand briefly before the two flags are slowly lowered at exact...
