A year long road trip driving from Sydney to Southampton in a BMW X5 checking out progress on the Asian Highway Project and visiting 100 world heritage sites along the way

Some people may prefer to take their time and go native but we approached it from the view point that we have 20 days lets see how much of India we can visit ,read on and I think you’ll be impressed with what can be done.

Monday 8/06/07   I woke up around 6am & Chris was still here! He'd fallen asleep last night – luckily, he had enough time to get to work. I'm able to give him all of the things I won't need in the next 2 ½ weeks and the weight of my pack goes down dramatically. This border is between Pakistan and India. A ceremony happens every day when the flags of both the nations are lowered in the evening time. This is very special and it happens in only this place across India Pakistan border.    

On the 2nd of August 2008 Kira and I celebrated our marriage with lots of friends,and soon we'll be setting off, overland and water, back to Australia.

Dallying in dial-up Dalhousie 8th September. It is rather like Sidmouth, in the hills - only more sedate. No young travellers, rather retired brigadiers. No broadband, only dial -up, hence this entry comes from Amritsar. It is beautifully situated, 6000ft up, and retains some Raj era qualities. Pre -war hotels, like ours, Aroma n' Claire (!!!), genteelly shabby, but with fantastic views, friendly staff, and crested dinner plates. I arrived in Amritsar late on Saturday night - the train journey from Delhi wasn't too bad, but I prefer to take a sleeper class train - it's hard work sitting in chair for 6 hours with the family from hell kicking the back of your chair, spilling ice cream all over you etc lol. Getting to the Golden Temple is a 20 rupee (cycle rickshaw) trip away, and I decided to stay in one of the Gudwaras - it's free and they accept donations for up to three nights. All I can say is WOW! My trip to India (August-Oktober 2007)

A taste of the beauty of the northern part of India: punjab, radjastan, ladakh, uttar pradesh.

It all started on Friday night when one of my colleague who was frustrated with loads of work said he would like to go for a trip to somewhere for a break, destination not decided yet.
