Amon Carter Museum Fort Worth Reviews
The West in Art Jun 20, 2009
The Amon Carter Museum specializes in portraits and paintings of the Old West. The Amon Carter is an interesting study in contrasts. It is a sleek, modern building with midcentury-inspired furnishings that houses an impressive collection of Texan and Western art. You'll find Charles Russell paintings and other famous artists who captured the spirit of the cowhand and their horses during the move west. The Museum is clean and well-lit, but unless you're a huge fan of this type of art, it is somewhat limited and perhaps a little dull. They do have some nice exhibits at times and my favorite paintings are byfar by my favorite artist, Georgia O'Keeffe. You can see quite a few of hers hanging here. Some of their oils are both rare and exceptional.
