Amok Restaurant Siem Reap Feb 02, 2010
While walking around the old market area, we chance upon this lovely looking restaurant right across the market called Amok. We noticed that the restaurant is rather full, mostly with tourists groups. The restaurant is colourful, bright with Khmer finishing looks like a cool place to have some light lunch. We ordered the Amok Platter and a glass noodle salad. The platter consist of beef, fish, chicken, pork and vegetables cooked in coconut gravy, turmeric and spices (to the best of what I could taste) which was served on banana leaves with rice and a glass noodles salad. We ordered Angkor Beer as well. The bill came out to USD 26. The beer cost USD 2 per bottle. Initially we thought that the prices there were reasonable till we found out later at Pub Street that we could have Angkor beer at 50 cents per mug. Food wise it’s not that great and after checking out some other restaurants along Pub Street, we felt Amok’s pricing is on the higher side.
