After our tour from contiki(visiting Egypt for 9 days) we have another arrangement to visit Amman, Jordan, our gateway to Petra. I always thought of the middle east as a warm place to be but as we were landing at the airport, it was announced that it would be 5 degree celsius outside...and there I was saying to myself OH GREAT!!!! I only have a few winter clothes with me might as well buy my warm jacket over here.

We have had some problems navigating this city, but we’ve had some success as well (we found the Dead Sea, after all). Today we had pretty high hopes as we set off towards the Eastern desert and the town of Azraq. We planned to see the many “desert castles” on the route, and to visit one of the two nature preserves near the town. We took a break from class on Saturday so Khalood our teacher took us on sort of a field trip to the King Houssein gardens. I felt like I was a kid again on a elementary school field trip. Atop the gardens, perhaps the most fitting memorial to the late King, is the Royal Automobile Museum. I basically learned the history of modern Jordan through automobiles.
