We were meant to leave the hostel at 730am.  Naser (the hostel owner) called the bus company the night before to reserve us two seats so that, when the bus drove by the hostel, we could jump right on.  The 730 bus stopped at the hostel- with one seat open.  No worries, we just waited to for the next one that came 15minutes later.  Thanks to Naser calling and saying something in harsh sounding Arabic this bus actually had two seats saved for us. If you go to the city of Amman you HAVE to take the 3 hour drive to the ancient city of Petra. Leave early (7am) and arrive in Petra by 11am and you will be able to spend at least 4 hours to see the most amazing city in the world!! The next day we headed off on the minibus to Amman.  It was only 5 dinar a piece, but totally crowded.  The only downside was the horrendous noise coming from the speakers, I found out later it was a cassette tape.  Anyways, the ride back was only about 3 hours and pretty painless.  For some reason in Jordan it seems that people smoke cigarettes more than they inhale regular air.  Luckily this tradition keeps up while riding in the minibus with the windows up.
