American Visionary Arts Museum Reviews

Aug 06, 2007
The American Visionary Arts Museum isn't your typical museum... You will find art but not your standard paintings of flowers and scultures of godesses. It has a cruise ship built out of toothpicks, Robots, Claymation displays, tree houses and kinetic sculpture races. These artists are the best of whats different in the world of Art. One room has secret messages spelled out in Nikes and deflated basketballs while another has an OCD artist's fiber collection.
Its truly a unique experience I reccomend to everyone visiting or living in Baltimore. If you live here, I highly reccomend the "fan pass". For students, its about $28 and that is good for a whole year's admission, discounts at the gift shop (which has some of the best shopping in Baltimore), discounted admission to their various workshops and events, a few free passes for friends and invites to special events. Regular admission runs about $12 so if you even go three times through the course of the year, it pays for itself. Plus the workshops and special events are just as great. This year, I participated in a Circuit Bending workshop, a Plaid dance Party and watched Movies from Federal Hill Projected on the side of the building through the summer.

So for something a little different thats a lot of fun... :)
Even the outside of the building...
