Jewel of Jaipur Jul 14, 2012
Amber fort is located on one of the hilltop outside Jaipur. This fort is one of the important and must visit attractions in Jaipur.

The Amber fort was built by Raja Man Singh in the 16th century and was completed by Sawai Jai Singh in the 18th Century. The fort offers magnificent views from top of the surrounding areas of Jaipur.

The fort is built using red stone and white marble. Mix of Mughal and Rajput architecture can be seen in this construction. Also an open air tunnel in place connecting this fort and a fort built to protect above.

The Amber fort is located around 11 kilometers. The outside is very imposing and rugged looking whereas the inside construction gives us wow experience. Caring on walls, mosaic, paintings and mirror work giving these halls majestic looks.

I have enjoyed every minute in my visit to this wonderful fort. Recommend the same to all visitors of Jaipur.

Fantastic Place to visit Apr 24, 2011
Amer Fort - located just outside the pink city, this place is a must visit for anyone visit Jaipur. An excellent architectural and historical treat for people who love to witness history.

Without a visit to Amer Fort the visit to Jaipur is incomplete in every sense.

I loved it. The huge darwazaa's (doors) and rooms that were once ladened with beautiful interiors, were once bedrooms of the many queens of past.

One can also relax and sip coffee or enjoy the lovely food served at one of the restaurants in the fort.

Awesome Experience ...... a Must Visit Attraction! May 16, 2010
This is the top attraction in Jaipur and your trip to Jaipur will not be considered complete unless you visit the Amer Fort which is located on the outskirts of Jaipur.

At the outset, let me inform you that the best part of the fort is the Sound and Light Show which happens every evening at 5:30pm (Hindi) and 6:30pm (English). Please enquire about the timings as they may change from time to time. If I remember correctly the ticket cost is Rs.250 per person. This beautiful sound and light show gives you the history of the Amer Fort right from the time it was built to the time the last of the Rajput Kings lived in the fort. The show is very informative from the historical perspective, is well scripted and the sound and light is co-ordinated very well. Full marks to the government of Rajasthan (tourism department) for putting up a world class show which we can be really proud of, I could hear the firangi foreigners cooing in delight at the end of the show.

To visit the fort you need to take the car up the hill (there is parking on top) and enter from the back gate or you can go up the main entrance of the fort on Elephant Back. This fort was depicted in Jodha Akbar as well as Hum Saath Saath Hain and both the movies show entry through the main entrance either on Horseback of elephant back. If you take the car route, when you get off make sure you are not eating anything as there are monkeys all around who will come and snatch anything edible from your hand.
