Amazon theatre is such a surreal dwelling. Located on the hill across cathedral it has its own park and square with good old white/black cobble stones designed in waves (usual pattern through the Brazil). Building is made in kind of Renaissance look during the time of the rubber bum in the area. It is a bit surreal to imagine large opera house in the middle of 1900s jungle, but they did exactly that. Most of the parts were brought from Europe and assembled on the spot. Large dome on the top of the building is decorated with lots of ceramic tiles (they told me over 35000) in the shapes of Brazil flag and colors. Inside there are bunch of nice Murano glass chandeliers. Unfortunately I did not have time to enjoy in one of the shows, but next time I am around this is the MUST go place.
