Amaravati Buddhist Monastery Mar 23, 2009
I visited Amaravati Buddhist Monastery yesterday. It was a nice sunny day to drive from London to Hemel Hempstead and from there another twenty minutes drive to the temple.
This is a traditional for a Theravda monastery. Buddhism offers, as integral to its path, a profound philosophy, an intricate analysis of the mind, lofty ethics and well-tested methods of meditation. The fruits of the Buddhist Way show in serene understanding, in kindness and compassion towards others, and in equanimity amidst the vicissitudes of life. Free from dogma, emphasizing personal responsibility as the key to right conduct and direct experience as the key to truth, Buddhism has an important role to play in the modern world. Buddha monks and nuns are there. The Sangha at Amaravati is supported by dana –freewill offerings. Dana is offering to Buddhist monks and Nuns at 11am. This temple is totally remote area and therefore advisable you to bring your own food and drinks. |
