Amarasinghe Guesthouse

I really like this lovely little family run guesthouse. It's recommended in the Lonely Planet, but that doesn't always mean it's going to be good!

The family make you feel welcome and they cook some absolutely fantastic curry, using the organic veg in their garden.

I got a double room (single occupancy) for LKR700/night (GBP4/$7). The bathroom was cleanish (cold water only), except for a line of ants that had made it their home. Bed was ok - typical of Sri Lanka, though, very thin matress. They had internet on site (no wi-fi), but it was really slow.

Its about 5 minutes walk to the beach, which means its nice and quiet.

Definitely recommended.
