Amaranten Bar & Lounge Stockholm Reviews
Amaranten Bar Jan 12, 2010
I had heard that this bar was a place to hang out some years ago from one of my Swedish colleagues, but she had not been there for some years.
I went there on a Tuesday evening and there was a quite good ambiance and the young waiters were very knowledgeable about the products that they had in the bar and dedicated to their task. I must say that the waiters were very positive and very service minded – it has been a long time since I had that pleasure.
The place had a full bar menu with loads of different options. One corner of the quite huge bar had tables where it was possible to sit down and enjoy a semi meal. The meals looked tasty judging by the customers that went that way.
The bar had a good beer selection but many of them were, what a guy like me coming from Brussels, would call pretty thin; most of them holding 5,5 % alcohol. I had been used to beers between 7-10% so these were very mild. Their beer menu did only have one Swedish beer which was a pity, but they had a load of English and American beers, mostly pale ale.
Amongst the ones I tasted was a Ridgeway IPA (Indian Pale Ale) Original an IPA would be a living beer; it would have been made with pale malts and no sugar or syrups. Hopping would be distinctive and potent using only large quantities of unprocessed whole leaf hops with modest bittering power but pugent aromas of spice and resin. Flavoursome top fermenting yeast was always used.
I had a great evening there talking to other customers and discussion about the products with the barmen.
