Amar Mahal Hotel Orchha Reviews
Luxurious new hotel out of town Aug 07, 2011
This hotel was well worth the stay. In fact it's a very new hotel, built a little bit outside the town. But the town Orchha is not very big, so with five to ten minutes you are in the centre of it. That is why I said the location is average rated, because it is not really close to the interesting places.
Anyway, the hotel itself is very nice. There is a big courtyard with a covered walkway around it. So when it rains, you can walk dry. And it did rain, a lot!! So that was good, we could go outside and watch the rain while staying dry, haha. Furthermore the positive thing about being a bit outside the centre of this small town is that you have a nice view on the temples close to the hotel. Even from our hotel room we could see them. And while it was thundering you could see the lightning hit the temples, that was a beatiful view.
The room was quite big, enough space for two persons. The furniture in the room was such typically Eastern Indian style. That gives a bit the feeling you are in Asia instead of you can be in every country in the world. The bathroom was excellent, enough space also. And both, bathroom and the hotel room, were clean.
There was also a restaurant in the hotel. But we only went there for breakfast. That was quite good. There was quite some choice at the breakfast buffet. Dinner we had in a restaurant outside. Most of the time it is cheaper outside the hotel also.
The hotel had a swimming pool. Quite a big one, but that we did not try, because it was raining and thundering a lot while we were in the hotel. Would have been nice to take a swim there. Because I remember it was in quite a hot and humid area with jungle around. We sweat a lot during our tour that afternoon, so a swim would have been nice. Anyway, the service I think was alright. We did not really use a lot of their service. But when you do not need it, I think it means the hotel has threaten you well, haha! Only on arrival and when we left the hotel we needed their attention. But the check in and check out went very easy. We left the key at the reception when we went out. The staff is trustful enough there I would say.
If you go to Orchha, I think Amar Mahal is a good choice! As said a bit out of the town. But since it is a very small town, that is not that bad. And it is nice walking around there anyway. That was also a big plus of this small town. People are not bothering you too much, like in the big cities. I would not mind going back to this hotel. But if they have more authentic hotels, a little bit closer to the centre I would probably go for that one.
