The Amalia Hotel is huge, as it has 3 floors spread over a large area, like a resort. I arrived on a very busy night, it was some kind of holiday where religious people go to church at midnight and then back to the hotel after midnight to have soup. It is apparently a huge tradition, I had a long talk with the waitress in their bar about that when everybody left the hotel around 10 pm amd I was all alone there.

When I arrived they could not find my booking, but they managed it pretty flexible as they just gave me a room and said that they would find the price during the night. The room was located in the other end of the hotel and at this point was the first time I realized the size. The hotel is situated on 14 acres of greenery and the hotel’s 172 are spread over three levels and offer relaxing views over the green gardens or the gigantic Meteora rocks.

The room and bathroom were nice and spacious. The room was furnished with dark wood furniture and fabrics in warm earthy tones. Just outside my room I had a nice open area and I could sit outside on a small terrace, looking straight into a green forest area. There was also possibility to go for a walk. The bed was nice, large and comfortable.

There is free parking in front of hotel. The staff was very friendly, especially in their bar, prices are fair. The wi-fi works well. The hotel is located some 5 km from the city beneath the cliffs, so just be aware of that. The restaurant only served one menu - the food was nice but not much to choose from and the service closed early. There bar was better and the staff there was really nice and friendly.

Amalia Hotel Kalambaka Overview

The hotel is situated on the highway between Larissa and Kalambaka. Approximately 10 kilometres from the town and approximately 16 kilometres from the main tourist attractions.

The hotel has extensive attractive gardens. A good standard hotel, 10 minutes drive from the town of Kalambaka.

The hotel has a large driveway with ample parking facilities for both buses and cars. It is a 2 storey building assembled in a basic construction and is quite bland.

The entrance hall is very large and quite simply designed, although not unattractive, furnished with very basic furniture with some traditional Greek touches.

The medium size rooms are exactly the same, well decorated and well appointed, modern, clean and comfortable, together with good facilities. Bathroom and bedrooms are kept in good condition.

The restaurant is in good condition and is reached by descending stairs from reception. The menu is reasonable with a good choice of dishes.

254 kms to the nearest airport (makedonia), 9 kms to city centre.
