Amadiya Vacation Guide
Amadiya, or Ameyda, is a small mountain community of about 6000 inhabitantslocated about 75 kilometres north of Duhok and only about 10 kilometres from the Turkish border. The town is perched on a flat plateau with one main road access.
There is one hotel in the towm and a few others in the suburb area at the base of the mountain. Amadiya does not have many tourist attractions other than the ancient "gate" or stone entrance way to the town.
Amadiya is a sleepy, relaxed town with a single mosque, Catholic church, community centre and gym. Many of the inhabitants like to go to the countryside on weekends for picnics with friends and family.
