Amadeus Hotel, Haarlem, Netherlands Nov 20, 2017
I was planning a month long visit to Nederland and wanted to stay in the smaller cities. Not knowing the nice and affordable places, I just started booking in seven cities and all my hotels worked out very good. Since I would fly to Schiphol, Haarlem worked out very nicely. My first and last hotel was the Amadeus Hotel. This was one of my favorite hotels (in the Netherlands) and in a very nice city.

I did spend time in Amsterdam, but Haarlem is a great city that I enjoyed also. I did have some very good TB friends meetups in Haarlem and Amsterdam while staying in Amadeus Hotel.

First the friendly helpful service from the employees was very useful. The rooms were clean and the hotel was located at a great place to access the train station. The location was great to visit nice old buildings still in use. The Saturday market was very good and I purchased food for then and later.

The nearby small city parks by the nice canals was perfect for this old country boy.

I do not remember any advertised free breakfast, but that free food was good with coffee, cheese, meat, bread, and yogurt.

Maybe my best thrill in Amsterdam was the Independence Festival in Haarlem.

True Paul,
Nobody in the good old USA (including Nacogdoches) wants to meet.
This is good reason that my last international travel was Nederland.

The location of this lodging is right in the market square. Everything is accessible including all kinds of restaurants, shops, museums, and the market square.

The bus stations and the train station is about 10 minutes walk to/from the hotel. From the Schiphol Airport, it is about 45 miles and it will take 30 to 45 minutes via public bus.

It is on their website that Amadeus (Mozart) had stayed in this hotel a long time ago. Although, at that point the hotel is with another name. It was only later on that they called this traveler's rooms "Amadeus."

Early check is welcome; provided there is a room ready for occupancy. :)

There is no luggage storage to keep your items safe while waiting for the check-in schedule or want to explore the town.

Cash as a mode of payment is acceptable.

The staff is helpful and accommodating.

The first floor is a restaurant, but I cannot write anything about that. We did not dine in there.

Breakfast is inclusive, and there're various decent selections.

The elevator in the building is old and very tight space, which lifts only two people at a time. It could be a challenge for the travelers with heavy suitcases. There is a staircase as an alternative to going up to the upper floors, but then again only ideal for guests carrying light bags or backpacks.

The room assigned to us is on the second floor, and we had a view of the market square.

Room amenities were functional. Bed is comfy. Sheets are clean.

The bathroom and toilet are clean. Hot water pressure was strong.

There's a kettle to boil water for making (free) tea or coffee.

Laid on the side table are earplugs to use for those light sleepers. The commotions coming from the market square are indeed loud. I didn't have trouble going to sleep though as I was already dead tired by mid afternoon.

Interesting to know Mozart stayed there, too. :D

Btw, I think Haarlem is only 20 km from Schiphol. That would be just about 13 or 14 miles. :)
