The Hotel Alwyn is a small hotel with all the services you would expect from a 4 star hotel. There is a restaurant with outdoor patio seating. A small gym offering massages in the basement level and there is 24 hr reception and a bar on the main level.

We booked a double for 88 euros which included a great breakfast. The breakfast was very good and included fresh juices, tea, coffee, pastries, ham, cheese, bacon, scrambled and hard boiled eggs. On Sunday there was only 6 guests in the hotel so they did not have any bacon or scrambled eggs on the breakfast bar. They apologized for the inconvenience and they made omelettes to order for everyone at our table.

The hotel is very secure. Key cards are required to take the elevator, enter rooms and gain access to the building after normal operating hours. They also offered FREE parking on the street in front of the hotel. The entire building is monitored from the front desk with security cameras and the cars are monitored from cameras on the front of the building. We parked the car and never moved it for 3 days and had no problems with vandalism or theft. This was a big plus because most places charge 20-30 euros for secured parking.

It is located east of the Powder Tower near the indoor shopping mall called Palladium. The tram line #8 is just around the corner but the weather was good and we just walked everywhere. Helps me burn off those good Czech beers. The walk from the hotel to the Old Town Square was 15-20 min depending on how many jewelry shops my wife decide to view. The walk to the Charles Bridge was only 30-40 mins. Walking was the best way to see the city and also avoid the occasional petty thief on the trains.

The next time we visit Prague we will be touring the southern part of the city so we will most likely stay near the New Town area. But if you want a nice hotel and don't mind a short walk consider staying here. If you are visiting during the summer, remember they do not have a/c in the rooms only a fan so keep that in mind. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
