Great view all over the city Nov 08, 2008
"Old Peter" is actually St. Peter's church. It's one of the oldest buildings in Munich as it was build on an old chapel of the 11th century. The very special thing about Old Peter is the steeple, which is opened for visitors.
For only €1,50 one can walk up the hundreds of steps and enjoy a unique view over the city of Munich. When the sky is clear, especially during the time of the Foehn, one can even see the Alps. The best time for a visit at the Old Peter is in the morning, when there aren't so much tourist. It's because the staircase and the steeple itself are extremely tiny and narrow. Besides, it should better neither rain nor be windy as there is something like a cage around the spire so that it's an open-air experience, which can be pretty unpleasant when it's rainy and/or windy.
