Al's Diner Hong Kong Reviews
Corny as hell Jan 20, 2011
It's probably a bit expensive for a diner (and it is a diner) in Hong Kong but it's right in the middle of Lan Kwai Fong and actually has an almost reasonable happy hour in terms of length and price. Covered in 50's Americana gear on the walls, it has that retro feel and is basically a small bar opening up onto the street with a couple tables and booths.
Al advertises the 'best hamburger in town' and to be fair, he's right. The burgers are excellent and good value which is unusual to find in Lan Kwai Fong. Staff are okay, pretty standard in this area which varies between disinterested to almost open dislike of customers but sod 'em. I do like the fact they leave pen and paper to write your song requests on and do in fact play them or the nearest alternative they can find!
Al's burgers became an onrunning joke with us when we were here, in the sense that we ending up comparing all our food to Al's burgers. They are actually that good, silly as it seems to travel half the world and have a burger!
