Al's Italian beef is the place that invented the Chicago favourite known as the Italian beef sandwich. It is a world renowned sandwich, and a trip to Chicago is not complete unless you visit Al's Italian Beef to try the original. There is 80 years of history in this sandwich. According to wikipidia:
An Italian beef is a sandwich of thin slices of seasoned roast beef, dripping with meat juices, on a dense, long Italian-style roll, believed to have originated in Chicago, where its history dates back at least to the 1930s Al's has also been featured on many shows, including the food channels great eats, and man vs food on the travel channel. Al's is special in that they dip the Italian beef in its own drippings before serving, and have their own hot pepper mix (or you can get sweet peppers too) that make it that much more delicious. For you non-beef folks, Al's also has numerous chicken, hotdogs, salads, and burgers, which cover all spectrums of food right? Also if you really want to be a glutton get their bluecheese fries..... So visit this website: http://www.alsbeef.com/ And find Al's next time your in chicago, and it will only cost you about 5 bucks for most items, and you will be satisfied.
