Affordable local restaurant Jun 05, 2011
If you're in Lahaina and want an affordable meal, go where the locals go and check out Aloha Mixed Plate. A local tour guide recommended it, and he said he frequents this restaurant with his family. An order of "mixed plate" and a plate of noodles is good to share with someone.

I was here back in 2006. i loved it very much. i ordered the "aloha mixed plate". this time i ordered the "hawaiian mixed plate".

the girls and i just left napili bay to go swimming. we wanted a cheap and large size meal. i suggested the aloha mixed plate. it is still an outdoor place to eat. they are next door to the "old lahaina luau". they are the same owners.

"a" ordered the Mahi Mahi Sandwich with sesame seed aioli. which is very good. kinda dry but ok.

"h" ordered the Aloha Mixed Plate, Shoyu Chicken, Teriyaki Beef and Mahi Mahi combination plate. same plate i ordered back in 2006. it also comes with macaroni salad and rice.

i ordered the Hawaiian Plate, Our Most Popular Plate Lunch: Kalua Pork & Cabbage, Lomi Lomi Salmon, Poi, Macaroni Salad, Rice and Haupia. WOW so yummy as ever. however the poi was not pasty, it supposed to be a thick gummy paste texture. it was more watery.

we all shared a "naughty hula cheesecake which is a chocolate kona coffee cheesecake with oreo cookie crust. WOW THAT WAS HEAVEN AND WRONG IN THE SAME TIME. i was not that sweet. i was able to share it.

however, i love it here. i would eat here everyday if we stayed closer. i will definitely come back here again...and i did.

Great food on a budget Apr 09, 2008
This place is great. right on the beach in beautiful Lahaina, the setting could not be more perfect. The cuisine is straightforward: Barbeque. There is other food, but everyone comes here for the barbeque. Either the Aloha Mixed plate or the BBQ mixed plate. The AMP features Chicken, beef, and mahi mahi for the princely sum of 8.75, whereas the BBQMP features chicken, beef, and kalbi ribs for the exorbitant price of 9.25.

The whole place is under these giant canvas tarps that provide protection from the sun, and in theory protection from the rain. The staff is very fun, which is great because when its packed (its a huge local hangout) the service doesnt exactly rise to the occaision, but the price is right and the food fantastic.

The foods presentaion is a little spartan as well: paper plates and plastic utensils. But it works. They are considering changing to biodegradeable utensils, becuase it turns out that several thousand discarded forks and knives a day doesnt exactly do wonders for the environment.

Overall, this is a great place and i would recomend it to anyone.
