Party Clientele but Convenient Location May 08, 2012
I stayed here in December while attending a theater performance.
Bought the room on priceline so it was a good deal at $49/night. This was my first experiencing staying at any Aloft brand.
The parking was in a lot across the street which was $29/night --- much too expensive for the location. Parking was free on the street overnight during weekends so we opted for that instead.
While visually this Aloft is similar to the others, this one attracted the young party crowd on the weekend. Clans of college kids gathered in the halls til 3am slamming doors and laughing like it was high noon. The management did nothing when we complained.
The bed was very lumpy, odd for a new bed. The comforter was covered with a fabric that sounded like plastic. Anytime one of us moved it sounded like we were opening a bag of Doritos!
This hotel did not have a pool, which is unusual for an Aloft.
We made a trip to both the ice machine and water vending machines, both of which were out of order.
In the morning when we checked out the halls were COMPLETELY trashed from the partiers. Booze bottles littered the hallways and the carpeting was full of food.
I don't recommend this hotel during a weekend and even less during a holiday when school is out of session. It wasn't worth even the cheap rate we had.
Checkin and checkout were both slow and we were never acknowledged while we waited.
On the good side, the location is walkable to downtown amenities of theaters and restaurants and an easy on/off the highway. The neighborhood in general was pretty quiet and safe.
The large flatpanel tv in the room was appreciated.
Rooms, lobby, and WXYandZ lounge were all decked out in the contemporary design that is standard across the brand; attractive. Service in the lounge was friendly and efficient.
We were asked about our stay at checkout and I was candid. There was no response from the front desk clerk. No apology, no attempt at rectifying it... just a blank stare. Additionally, I received a survey electronically a few days later. Again, filled it out honestly about the poor experience; no response.
In summary, this hotel was rode hard and put away wet. It takes lots of abuse from the party crowd and it is not maintained well.

Hotel for the ages 21 to young at hearts. Aug 27, 2010
We stayed at this hotel for two nights over the Summerfest weekend. It was new hotel with a contemporary design. Very modern feeling out of the ordinary rooms with average views.(Either the ugly orange river or the streets) Beds were extremely comfortable, the TV had HD channels and the bathroom was clean, roomy and unique. Hotel had a tiny pool which we didn't use. As with any downtown hotel in any major city, the parking was far away and expensive. We gave our car to the Valet and told to charge it to the room, however when we checked out the charges were not there. Unfortunately, i had to open my mouth and told the young receptionist that we should have been charged for the valet. She promptly did that and nicely thanked us for being honest.($46 for 2 nights parking.)
Overall a nice hotel with a unique design,Oh it is right by the Water Street so it is within a walking distance from all the fun.
