Aloe Hotel Paphos Reviews
cheap and relaxed Jul 09, 2010
Booked this hotel an a last-minute tour package. Judging the cheap price and plenty of availability still during the high season (August) I left with not many expectations but was nonetheless pleasantly surprised.
Location wise, this is a good bet. The hotel is situated across the street from the beach on the road leading into the touristic center of Paphos (3km away - regular busses or a nice walk). It is fairly quiet at night as there are only a few bars, some agencies and a few souvenir shops around; the real hot spots are further down the road.
Hotel Aloe officially has 4 stars but I'd classify it as a tourist class.
The hotel has been around for quite some years and looks a bit outdated with a strong 70's feel. Though that didn't bother me.
At the moment of booking I asked for a quiet room and was given a spacious room on the side with lateral seaview (at no extra cost) Even though the furniture and carpet in the room had seen better times, the room was clean and functional.
The hotel has a ridiculous policy of charging for putting your own items in the minibar; which I can understand for food and drinks... but not as we used it for the sole purpose of keeping medicines cool!
There are 2 good size swimming pools with plenty of lounge chairs (though very old ones!) The bar annex pool side restaurant offers plenty of snacks at very reasonable prices, so no need to run to the supermarket or get a snack outside.
I staid on a half board basis and was very pleased with the breakfast. You'll find everything you expect from an American breakfast buffet. However the dinner was at best mediocre with lack of choice and many repeating dishes. The BBQ and dance night by the pool however was a welcome change.
There's a possibility to eat outside at the terrace, but beware of lots of stray cats!
Since I spent most of my vacation discovering the island instead of sunbathing at the pool, this hotel was perfectly fine and worth the bargain price paid.

The hotel is in an ideal location if you want to be near the harbour but out of town. A 5 minute walk across the road to the beach, it is great for those early morning strolls along the coast. The bedroom was ok - although the phone never worked, and the tv didn't have a very good signal for those midnight movies...
Was there for B&B, and the breakfast was really nice (although I wasn't too sure about the hot dog sausages instead of proper sausages???). I think we had 2 snacks on room service, both of which were lovely (you get loads for your money).
The only problem I really found in the whole hotel was the cats. They were everywhere is Cyprus - but the hotel was the worst. I took an early morning walk around the hotel pool and was chased out of the garden by a cat hissing at me!! Apart from that it is a lovely hotel. The staff are really friendly and will help you as much as they can.
