Allthing and North American edge of Mid Atlantic Rift Reviews

Jun 04, 2007
The flight over to Iceland from Manchester, UK was cheap compared to trying to buy from North America, but the cost of living, like most Scandinavian countries, is high. I took a tour with Reykjavik Excursions, called the Golden Circle, which covered all the sights in the surrounding areas of Reykjavik. The tour included a stop at a greenhouse, two waterfalls, an implosion crater, a geothermal 'hot spot' with a few geysers, and finally the Allthing. Being a history buff, the Allthing proved to be the most interesting, with Iceland in such isolation from the rest of the world, the history was easily traceable back to 830 b.c.e. The notion that the Icelandic parliament has been meeting ever since then, and right underneath the beautiful, sheer cliff of the Mid Atlantic was overwhelming, and certainly humbling! With the tour only taking up 8 hours of your day, and the summer sky light for more than 12, it seemed like a quick jaunt into Iceland's beautiful Volcanic countryside before your back in the charming town of Reykjavik.
A Great Trip- Highly Recommended!!!!
